He was the number one graduate from the country’s prestigious military medical school, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Prior to his ophthalmology training, he served as an aerospace medicine physician at the elite Air Force Special Operations Command where he cared for our special operations personnel as well as developed medical doctrine to be used in the special operations missions. After his ophthalmology training he excelled as the staff ophthalmologist at the Department of Defense’s premier medical center in Germany. He was then recruited as the Director of the Air Force’s War-Fighter Refractive Eye Surgery Center in Northern California. Dr. Allen has enhanced the military’s combat readiness by performed thousands of laser refractive procedures on members of all branches of the Armed Forces. Air Force Aviators and special operations personnel have sought out Dr. Allen’s expertise for their laser vision correction. The pinnacle of Dr. Allen’s military career culminated in his voluntary tour in Iraq where he proudly served our country as the only Air Force eye surgeon in Iraq, where he performed sight saving eye surgery in a combat zone.
