ICL: A Sophisticated Solution for Nearsightedness

Patients with nearsightedness struggle with glasses and contacts on a daily basis.  At Hines Sight, Dr. Coco is one of the most experienced surgeons in the Denver, CO area to offer the ICL™, so patients who deal with the hassle of glasses and contacts can now experience visual freedom.

ICL is a type of refractive procedure that corrects the most common visual problems, nearsightedness and astigmatism. It is a biocompatible lens that is placed just beneath the colored part of your eye in a simple 15-minute procedure.  Over 900,000 patients all over the world have experiences their new found freedom with ICL.

Maximum Comfort with ICL

The ICL procedure safely and effectively corrects nearsightedness and has a 99% patient satisfaction rate.

Understanding Nearsightedness & Astigmatism

Nearsightedness occurs in at least 10 million adults, according to a study conducted by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  Nearsighted patients are able to see objects up close, but objects in the distance are blurry.  This is the result of the light coming into your eye and focusing in front of the retina instead of on it.

About 30% of nearsighted patients experience significant astigmatism with their nearsightedness.  This is due to the shape of the cornea distorting images on the retina.  ICL and Toric ICL can correct both nearsightedness and astigmatism at the same time in one simple lens.

Benefits of ICL

While LASIK and PRK are the most common way to correct nearsightedness, not all patients are candidates. ICL offers advantages that LASIK does not.

  • No tissue from the eye is removed
  • Can be removed, if needed
  • No risk of dry eye syndrome
  • Built in UV protection
  • Broad treatment range: corrects patients up to -20 D and up to 4 D of astigmatism
  • Solution for patients with thin corneas

Quick Procedure with Fast Results

The ICL procedure can typically be completed in 15 minutes. Dr. Coco will first administer medicated and numbing drops to dilate the eye and ensure you remain comfortable. He will then create a small incision at the base of your cornea, and insert the ICL. The ICL will then be carefully positioned behind the colored part of your eye and your natural lens.

After the procedure, you should arrange to have someone drive you home. We will provide you with detailed instructions to care for your eyes, which include the applications of eye drops to minimize the risk of infection.

You may begin to notice improved vision immediately after your procedure, however, your eyes will continue to heal over several months. You should be able to return to normal activities within three to five days.

Financing Your Treatment

We believe every patient should have access to this exceptional care. While ICL is not usually covered by your insurance, we have different financing options available.

Our most popular monthly payment options are:

  • Zero down payment & no interest for 24 months
  • Zero down payment & low monthly payments with fixed interest rate for 60 months
